There was always music
I can’t say for sure where or when my appreciation for music began. It just seems that I always enjoyed a great variety of music. From Mom playing hymns on the piano to seeing KISS at Maple Leaf Gardens; from friends gathering at home with guitars and mandolins, to listening to zydeco at New Orleans’ Swampfest – music just always seemed to take me somewhere that I wanted to be.
I remember, from a very young age, listening to the sounds of my sister’s 45’s coming from her bedroom. Oh how I loved “Johnnie Angel”, “My Boyfriend’s Back”, and the like. Sometimes, I would even get to play our old record player myself. I’d pull out some of Mom’s old Mitch Miller or Harry Lauder albums.
